If you're a fan of good steak then there's a new place in Fulham that you need to get yourself to immediately. Hanger SW6 keeps it pretty simple - a handful of starters, a few mains that include their signature hanger steak and apparently three puddings, though we didn't need those after our feast. They also do cocktails and have a pretty decent wine list.

I popped along after being invited to check out this new steak destination and was very impressed with what I tried. After a horrific journey, no thanks to TFL (as always seems to be the case at moment) I settled down with a negroni to wait for my lovely dinner date. The negroni hit all the spots, as did everything we ordered. When he arrived we wasted no time in getting to grips with the menu. The entire choice of starters was: salt beef croquette with chimichurri, salt and vinegar squid with lemon aioli, charred piquillo pepper with crumbled feta and cherry tomato salsa (his choice), and scallop ceviche with ponzu dressing (my choice). Both our starters were light yet bursting with flavour due to the excellent quality of ingredients used, and the perfect portion size considering the mains to follow. I've seen photos of the other two starters which look delicious, yet heavier than our choices because of their deep fried cooking.

Mains are all "from the grill". There's charcoal grilled hanger steak, obviously, which I had, that comes in two very good value sizes - small for £11.00 (I can't remember the weight but around 300g and enough for me), and large for £20.00 which we were told is enough to feed two people. The other few options include a veggie charred cauliflower steak with Szechuan pepper and harissa oil which I imagine is pretty fiery, there's a ciabatta sandwich version of the hanger steak with sticky onions, mustard and watercress, and a daily fish special which was sesame tuna the day we went. Sauces are all £1.50 and the four of them are bone marrow bĂ©arnaise (the only one I tried but worth going back just for this!), hanger relish, horseradish aioli and mushroom ketchup. We accompanied our perfect plates of steak and tuna with sides of mac and cheese with a parmesan crust and baby spinach and watercress salad with hazelnut vinaigrette and Cornish blue - both of which were spot on. We could've also had triple cooked chips and/or charred market vegetables.

Hanger SW6 don't muck about. They know what they're doing, they do it very well and they don't try and show off with too many dishes. It's all about incredible quality ingredients, cooked to perfection and dished up for not that many pounds considering.
